Roomie Kickstarter

Journal Entry: Tue Jan 8, 2013, 11:24 AM

That's right! For those who didn't see it yet, we've recently launched a Go Get a Roomie Kickstarter campaign in order to publish it's very first book!

It's been going amazing so far, reaching the 20k goal in little less than 24h. Like I said, amazing.

But there's still 29 days left for those of you who still wish to donate and perhaps raise the campaign enough to reach other goals with extra lovely gifts!

Here's the link~

Lots of love everyone<333

List of stuff to dooo

Journal Entry: Sat Sep 1, 2012, 1:42 PM

In which priorities come first:

1.) Go Get a Roomie updates
2.) Finish the  Kigo comic (AMIRIGHT)
3.) Horny For You updates
4.) Commissions (which are indefinitely closed)

And of course fanarts which doesn't fit any order because I can't control those things (they come on an impulse).

After everything's caught up on, it'll be all about publishing a Roomie book (WHOO!), doing a little porn comic and starting to seriously think about a hush-hush secret project idea of mine.

Just so everyone's clear on my priorities, especially me!

In other news, there is now a GGaR Forum on the Pixie Trix website: [link]

Lots of love to everyone of you!!

Other than that, if you're curious for some news: It's now been almost exactly three weeks since I've moved into Brussels (Belgium), and it's amazing waking up, feeling at home, loving life and all that good stuff, and knowing it's all because I'm now making a living off Go Get a Roomie. It's... yeah, it's definitely amazing :)

Art theft and retracing art

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 22, 2012, 3:01 PM

Hey guys! How are you all? :)
This... is not my usual life-is-perfect journal entry. It's about Art theft, and what is considered as disrespectful if you ever copy/retrace original artworks. To make things as clear as possible:

-you DO NOT submit another artist's artwork in your own dA gallery. Your gallery is for YOUR stuff, your favorites is for the artworks you have specially liked while browsing dA. Submitting someone else's art and saying it's your own, is considered as theft.
Clear? Should be for most, but you never know. Next:

-you DO NOT retrace, copy, color, or edit another artist's artwork without giving them the proper credits. You DO NOT submit this edited artwork and say it's "your own original artwork" without ANY indications to which artwork you're editing/copying from. It WILL NOT help you in any way as an artist to receive compliments about an artwork because the viewers think it's all you. You HAVE to accept your own flaws and need of an original artwork to copy/edit from to IMPROVE as an artist, and as a person.

It is also the LEAST OF RESPECT you owe to the artists you're so "inspired" by.

Why am I bringing this up now? Because I have been reported that a certain *jefterleite is retracing many artworks from the well-known *AdamHughes and proudly saying that it is "his own original artwork". No credits. Nothing.
I usually don't tell on someone and shout their dA names, but this dude has unfortunately irritated me by not only denying his lack of credits, but also deleting his latest deviation ([link])  which I had commented on with the link to Adam's original artwork ([link]), and hiding my comment on the frontpage and blocking me from replying to him. Evidently proving that he is guilty.

This is what I left on his frontpage:
"Your artwork is NOT original, as it is retraced from Adam Hughes' artworks. I am strongly against your submissions saying it is "your" artwork without giving ANY credit whatsoever to ~AdamHughes. Not to mention the fact that you're selling them.
Please give the credits where they are due. Giving credits is giving respect to the original artist behind all these. And it is fundamental for you to do so as an artist yourself.
For example, this fellow here has colored Adam's original artwork: [link] And the colored version: [link]
Notice how the artist GAVE ALL THE PROPER CREDITS in the artist's comment. You should follow this example and stop implying to others that these are all your original ideas.
I hope you understand."

This is his answer, before blocking me:
"I have some gear from adam but they are with credit! most of my artwork are original, prove me sending me links to my work that are not credits are not mine!"

Hmm, not only do I not have the time to go through your retraced gallery and find the original artworks to all of them, but I couldn't be able to anyway because you have blocked me from commenting and/or noting you on anything. And you deleted your latest deviation with my comment that included the link to the original artwork. Interesting.

Important note: This is NOT an encouragement to send hate notes or insults. This is to tell this guy, and any others who deny copying/stealing other's artworks, that what they are doing is wrong.  Be respectful, okay? They just wanna draw like the big boyz and they don't realize how disrespectful and immature it is.

Peace out :peace:

ps: This guy should thank me. Look at all the pageviews I'm giving him! ;)

Wittle news for the curiouses

Journal Entry: Mon May 21, 2012, 5:15 PM

I do realize it's not a word. But then "curiouser and curiouser" isn't either :>

What's happening:

In July I am moving to Brussels (Belgium) with some great friends of mine. This couldn't have been possible without your help. The fundraiser was a success, and starting July I will be able to live off Roomie. Without the readers I have now and the generous donators, this couldn't have happened.

Thank you.

This also means that there will be a GGaR update EVERY FRIGGIN' DAY for roughly about a month, since you've "bought" 15 extra strips I have to somehow fit in the schedule!
Which leads to the commissions, the Kigo comic AND the webcomic on Filthy Figments. I will get through those as well some-bloody-how, but you have to understand that Roomie will always be my priority, as it's with the hippie's adventures that I'll be able to live in Belgium and not starve there.

In other news: new name here on deviantArt, as you probably noticed! Some asked why, some asked how. I'm afraid only premium members can change their username. As to why, "nana-51" was a name I created back in high school where my nickname was "Nana" in my little circle of friends. It wasn't meant for it to stick for so long, and I've been wanting to change the username ever since.
"Batlesbo" is my name on Tumblr, so some of you aren't that confused :) and yes, it's "bat" space "lesbo". Not "battles bo" or "bro" or whatever your mind tricked you into believing. I get a lot of that!

I think that's it... then again it's quite the big news. I still can't believe how popular my webcomic's becoming, and I'm overwhelmed and even have to take a break at times from all of this so I don't lose my mind =D

Lastly: omg guys this playlist is orgasmic go listen to it right now

Lots of love! ;)

GoGetaRoomie Fundraiser!

Journal Entry: Sat May 12, 2012, 10:54 AM

Hey guys! Jojo (the comic manager&wizard) and I are doing this little fundraiser to help us get a better start with the whole comics biz. It also encourages me to (most probably certainly) draw this comic full-time, meaning 5 updates a week, on week days.

It's simple, donate whatever amount you wish to, and once we reach 100$, it's an extra Roomie update in the week. We're doing great so far, but if you want to add your own Roomie love, click here for more info!

Thank you<3

>Chloe's Art Store<

And in other news: THANK YOU FOR THE VOTES! The ComixCon May Mayhem NSFW Tournament has started its rounds and Roomie's still jumping over rainbows.
If you still want to give it a go and vote for your favorite NSFW webcomic, it's this way!

Comic voting and whatnot yay!

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 28, 2012, 6:36 PM

I should probably get some promotion going here on dA as well, if it's not too much of a bother. There's this comic tournament. Well, specifically,  the "Mix May Mayhem 2012 NSFW Webcomics Tournament".

Aaaaand I don't know how it came to be but as far as I know, Go Get a Roomie is... well let's just say it's going fairly well. And a bit more than fairly.
But I'll still play the game and give you the link to vote for my webcomic ONLY if you think it deserves it. There's plenty of other wonderful comics in there that you might rather vote for, by all means! (Like Ma3, Curvy or Oglaf!)

Vote on the Mix May Mayhem 2012 NSFW Webcomics Tournament

Lastly, a huge, huge, still-too-amazed-at-the-love-you-give-me thank you to all of my readers, commenters, followers AND ALL THAT HAPPY JAZZ.

Suggest a Daily Deviation

Journal Entry: Sun Feb 26, 2012, 8:29 AM

So I've been meaning to write an entry on DDs for quite a while now. And now seems like a good time!

I've noticed, whether or not it's just me, that I was growing somewhat disappointed at what the Daily Deviations sometimes give us. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great way to show off someone's work that might be undervalued. But only if they deserve it!
Sometimes I go check a DD and find that, yeah, there might be nice textures in the drawing but holy hell, does the anatomy need practice!

Again, it's not to critisize anyone's work, but rather knowing that there are wayyyy more skilled artists who deserve the attention. I guess I'm picky! But isn't what DDs are for? Picking the best out of many?

SOOO, cutting to the chase, I'm gonna tell YOU how to suggest a DD. Because I think the problem might also be that there are very few people who actually know how to suggest an artwork as a Daily Deviation.

It's really simple, all you have to do is NOTE the proper deviant that takes care of a particular category. For example:

:bulletwhite: All Galleries - $Moonbeam13
:bulletwhite: Anime/Manga - ^Nyiana-Sama, `MzzAzn & `kit-y
:bulletwhite: Comics & Cartoons - `dust-bite
:bulletwhite: Digital Art - `Hyazintha & `alicexz
:bulletwhite: Fan Art - ^KasumiCR
:bulletwhite: Traditional Art - `Mollinda, `SRaffa, `oilsoaked & ^deshrubber

For the entire list click here!
Write them a note with preferably the thumbnail of your chosen deviation, and tell 'em why you like it so much! And as it is written in the FAQ, only suggest a deviation to ONE person.

DISCLAIMER: This is absolutely NOT a wink-nudge to say "Oh hey! hey pick MY art now!!" I don't know if any of my art deserves a DD, and I don't care much. But I know quite a few of my arsty friends who DO deserve it, and I bet you do too. So you know what to do if you feel like helping out a Deviant friend  :)

RUSSIA: A BILL TO SILENCE MILLIONS

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 21, 2011, 5:24 PM

EDIT: Okay guys, apparently this law only concerns St Petersburg, and not all of Russia. More info here=> [link] It doesn't make it less horrible, but it is a small relief. /EDIT

I'm going to make a shout on something very important happening right now:
"In 48 hours, political leaders in Russia will vote on a law that makes speaking out as a gay, lesbian or trans person ILLEGAL. Because Russia is a large and powerful nation, the international community has stayed silent. If thousands of us raise our voices, they will be forced to speak out and stop this horrific law."
You'll understand why I can't help but post this everywhere in the hope to help in this crucial moment.
Sign the petition here=> [link]
It's easy, safe, and takes less than a minute.

It's too surreal for me to imagine such a law taking place. As an artist, it would mean not being able to publish anything, just because I have preferences that might be considered different. I'd feel caged.
