Earthbending. 1. I mean there's sandbending, lavabending, mudbending, metalbending and probably countless more specialisations. 2. You could surf on earth to university and build a sturdy tend to sleep in, when you missed your last train home. 3. Fricking stone levitation! Forget surfing or sleeping in a tend, I could sit on a stone and fly myself home! 4. All hail Toph
If reading Skulduggery Pleasant taught me anything about the elemental magics, its that as flashy or destructive the other elements are, Air is the most versitile when used creatively. So.... Yeah, that one
I picked Earthbender just because I think it fits my personality better. I did martial arts for a while and my instructor constantly critiqued me for being too defensive, keeping a distance and waiting. Which I think fits just perfectly with Earthbending.
I am an airbender. The bending is based on different styles of asian martial arts and I was practicing this all my life. The style that goes the most with what I prefered after trying a lot is airbending. Using strength of your surroundings. Use the strength of your opponent against him. I really love the peace- and cheerful spirit behind it, because I am somehow a clown myself. Power should never come of aggression.
That way I could buy the rights for the Avatar/Korra Universe from Nick (bastards), then giving the series the kind of sequels the fandom deserves (with adequate resources and time), free from the idiotic meddling of greedy TV Execs/Suits who ONLY care about what will sell the most toys, video games, and merch to a very narrow demographic of young boys, and NOT about good character development or rich storytelling.
